Final Reflection

My goal that I set at the beginning of this practicum included; become familiar with Goal book, how to use a break out room in zoom, and to design effective strategies. I used Goal book to find assessments, progress monitoring tools, and measurable goals for students. I think that I will use Goal book more often this school year after I have had the opportunity to navigate it and discover applicable features. I am not like the queen of break out rooms but I have gotten much better at this. Overall, I have learned how to use different features on zoom. Being able to feel confident in my ability to use zoom helped me relax when teaching. The last goal was to design effective strategies that would lead students to meeting their goals. I think that being able to work with a co-teacher really helped with that. We could share ideas and things that worked for us in the past.  The first week I was really anxious. I was worried about jumping right in, the workload, and the smoothness ...

Final Observation

Lesson Topic : Writing 5-complete sentences (paragraph)                                       Date : 7/21/25 Taught : How to generate ideas for writing, how to organize ideas for writing to a prompt, how to write a 5-sentence paragraph to a prompt What went well: I started the lesson off with a picture of many different types of favorite foods. The students loved looking at all the pictures of foods and pointing out which ones they liked. We had a discussion about our favorite foods. We talked about reasons why these foods were our favorites. I introduced the purpose of the lesson and the students understood the objective to write 5 complete sentences to the writing prompt. We talked about how this was an opinion piece and what made it such. We then picked 8 favorite foods to narrow down ideas, on a bubble map. I modeled how to organized ideas into the "My Favorite Food" graphic organize...

2nd observation

Lesson Topic:    Subtracting 2 Two-digit Numbers with Regrouping                     Date: 7/15/25   Taught: Subtracting 2 Two-digit Numbers with Regrouping    What went well: I used some boom cards at the beginning of the lesson to guide the students through the process. They worked out great because they had the equation, base-ten blocks, and steps laid out on the slide. Both students seem to like this way of introducing the concepts of borrowing and regrouping. I used the whiteboard in zoom to have both students work on different examples. They were able to work through each problem and explain their thinking. They enjoyed using the whiteboard, I think they feel like they are in control when they get to write on the whiteboard. I went over the independent practice sheet with them before they started working. This sheet did not have the subtraction symbol so I pointed that out to make sure they unde...

1st Observation

My 1st observation was a reading comprehension lesson using Enemy Pie.  My class consisted of two students both rising 4th graders. Both of these students have reading comprehension goals on a 2nd grade level.                                                                                                                                                                                ...

Practicum goals, feelings, and expectations

1.  Three goals I have for myself include:  * become familiar with Goal book. This is a source that Greenville County Schools has recommended for teachers. I have used in somewhat my first year as a resource teacher. It has many useful features; you can create a goal, develop present levels, and discover strategies to implement. I am going to take this as an opportunity to dive into it for better understanding.😉 * learn how to use the break out room feature in a zoom classroom. I have never taught over zoom so this is a new experience. I have used zoom for IEP meeting, as a student, and as a parent in an IEP meeting. This will add to my knowledge of navigating zoom.  * design strategies that provide opportunities for aha moments that lead students to meet their individual goals 🙌 2. I am nervous about this course because I have never taught online before. I am nervous I will mess up transitioning to the break out room with students. I will need to practice this beforeha...
